Salary: $40,000 annually
The Corporate & Industry Events Intern will assist Cinéfest Sudbury’s corporate development and communications departments to develop tools and strategies to foster increased private sector investment for the organization and its activities. They will further be responsible for the planning and execution of hospitality events held for corporate and industry partners.
The Corporate & Industry Events Internship position is supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.
Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed.
The position may not be remote or hybrid work. The program requires that the intern receive direct, on-site supervision from the supervisor.
The primary responsibilities of the Corporate & Industry Events Intern include:
Assist with the coordination of corporate partnerships, including; the identification and evaluation of potential sponsors, the development and execution of sponsorship proposals, and the management of all sponsorship-related communications and events;
Assist with the development of enhanced communications materials to present to prospective and current private and public sector partners;
Assist with the development of strategies to grow investment and increased involvement in the arts and culture sectors;
Establish relationships with venues/vendors and coordinating the bookings/ rentals/ purchases of venues/materials required for hospitality events;
Plan and implement all hospitality event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes;
Ensure that event budgets are managed and well maintained;
Assist with the development and implementation of strategies that capitalize on synergies between Cinéfest Sudbury and Cultural Industries Ontario North.
Other duties as assigned.
The Corporate & Industry Events Intern will interact directly with key Cinefest partners, along with support staff, volunteers, patrons and the public at large.
There are no day-to-day physical demands associated with the Corporate & Industry Events Intern. From time to time there will be setup related to various activities, including hospitality events, that Cinefest Sudbury is involved in, that will require the Corporate & Industry Events Intern's attention.
In general, Cinefest Sudbury operates on a 35-hour work week, 9AM to 5PM from Monday to Friday (with an hour for lunch). Due to the dictates of Cinefest activities, the Corporate & Industry Events Intern can expect to occasionally work unusual hours, mainly evenings and weekends.
The Corporate & Industry Events Intern is required to demonstrate the following abilities/knowledge base:
Experience with corporate communications;
Experience in event coordination. Experience with non-profit arts & culture sector organizations will be considered a definite asset;
Knowledge/experience within the hospitality industry;
Self-directed, takes initiative, possesses creative problem-solving skills;
Excellent time management skills and ability to manage and deliver on competing deadlines;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Bilingualism will be considered an asset for this position, as Cinefest Sudbury operates on a bilingual basis.
