CINÉFEST SUDBURY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

WHEN WILL THE 2022 EDITION OF CINEFEST SUDBURY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TAKE PLACE?

The 34th edition is set to take place September 17-25, 2022.

HOW DO I GET TICKETS?

For Passports, General Admission Books, Gala Tickets, and Virtual Passports, visit our Tickets pages.

For individual virtual films click “More details” next to the film you would like to stream on our Schedule page, then click “BUY TICKETS” on the film page.

For Cinema 9 prime time tickets, find the film on our  Schedule page and click “BUY TICKETS”.

In-Person:

  • All Passes and tickets are also available for purchase at our office, located at 40 Larch St., Unit 103, Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM;
  • All Passes and tickets will be available at our Box Office at Silver City during the Festival;
  • Ticket books and gala tickets (excluding $25 reception tickets) are available at Lockerby Confectionary and Jett Landry Music.

ARE GIFT CERTIFICATES AVAILABLE?

Gift certificates are available to purchase year-round at the Cinéfest Sudbury office, located at 40 Larch Street, Unit 103, or by phone at 705-688-1234.

Our office is located at 40 Larch St., Unit 103, and our hours are Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.

WHAT DOES THE CINÉFEST PASSPORT OFFER?

For $275.00, the CINÉFEST PASSPORT grants access to:

  • All festival film presentations at SilverCity Sudbury (17 to 25 SEP); including Gala film presentations (17 to 25 SEP)
    • 18 and 23 SEP après-film receptions: 2x complimentary drink tickets, complimentary hors d’oeuvres
  • One-time viewing of all films available virtually (passport holders will be provided with information on accessing virtual films closer to festival start date) 
  • Cinema 9 Prime Time screenings (these are individually ticketed events with limited seating, subject to availability; please present your Passport at the Cinéfest Box Office in advance to obtain a ticket) 
  • Public Cinema Summit activities

For $400.00, the CINÉFEST PASSPORT PLUS grants access to:

  • All festival film presentations at SilverCity Sudbury (17 to 25 SEP); including Gala film presentations (17 to 25 SEP)
    • 18 and 23 SEP après-film receptions: 2x complimentary drink tickets, complimentary hors d’oeuvres
  • One-time viewing of all films available virtually (passport holders will be provided with information on accessing virtual films closer to festival start date) 
  • Cinema 9 Prime Time screenings (these are individually ticketed events with limited seating, subject to availability; please present your Passport at the Cinéfest Box Office in advance to obtain a ticket) 
  • Public Cinema Summit activities 
  • Hospitality Trailer (SilverCity) with a curated daily selection of treats and refreshments

WHAT DOES THE VIRTUAL PASSPORT OFFER?

For $75.00, the CINÉFEST VIRTUAL PASSPORT grants access to:

  • One-time viewing of all films available virtually (please see our Schedule page and click "Available Online" to see all films offered virtually).

CAN I REFUND OR EXCHANGE MY CINÉFEST PASSPORT/PASSPORT PLUS?

There are no refunds or exchanges for Cinéfest passports. If purchasing virtual tickets, please ensure that your browser and computer are compatible (details below).

CINÉFEST AT SILVER CITY

HOW DO GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS WORK?

General admission tickets grant admission to all films, excluding Gala and Cinema 9 Prime Time events.

General admission tickets are available to purchase in:

  • Book of 4 – $55.00
  • Book of 10 – $125.00

PLEASE NOTE: Single tickets are only available in the “rush line” at the Cinéfest SilverCity Box Office prior to individual screenings (subject to availability).

HOW DO CINEMA 9 PRIME TIME TICKETS WORK?

Cinema 9 Prime time films are part of a special program with limited seating. Because of this, we require a separate ticket for these events.

  • Individual tickets for Cinema 9 Prime Time screenings are $10.00
  • General Admission tickets from Books of 4 and 10 may be exchanged at the box office for Cinema 9 Prime Time tickets

*Please note that Passport holders must show their Passport at the Box Office, to receive a free ticket prior to attending Cinema 9 Prime Time screenings.

HOW DO GALA TICKETS WORK?

Gala tickets are specific to each night’s respective gala film presentation and are $20.00, with the following exceptions;

  • No gala receptions will be held after the films on Monday, Sept. 19th or Saturday, Sept. 24th
  • A cash bar is available at gala receptions after the film held Saturday Sept 17th, Tuesday Sept 20th, Wednesday Sept. 21st, Thursday Sept. 22nd, and Sunday Sept 25th (tickets  are $20.00);
    • Admission to these receptions is not guaranteed due to capacity restrictions;
  • For gala receptions after the film held Sunday, Sept. 18th and Friday, Sept. 23rd, there are two ticket options:
    • $25.00 – Reception included (with 2 complimentary drink tickets; a cash bar will also be available);
    • $20.00 – Reception not included (does not provide entry to the gala receptions held by Cinéfest on these nights).

WILL THERE BE RESERVED SEATING THIS YEAR?

No – we have returned to our pre-2020 ticketing structure and there will be no reserved seating this year. Seating is subject to availability and is on a first come, first served basis.

PEASE NOTE: Out of courtesy for patrons who have arrived early and lined up for screenings, saving seats is prohibited.

WHAT ARE YOUR ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS?

All SilverCity cinemas are wheelchair accessible. If you are seated adjacent to the wheelchair-designated seating area, an able-bodied individual accompanying a wheelchair-bound patron arrives, you may be asked to vacate your seat. We ask this out of courtesy to those who must sit in the designated area.

In some cases, sound amplification and text amplification headsets may be available for the hearing impaired. Please inquire with festival staff or volunteers about the availability of these services prior to individual screenings.

HOW DO I PURCHASE AND STREAM FILMS USING A PASSPORT OR VIRTUAL PASSPORT?

  1. Click here to purchase your Passport or Virtual Passport.
  2. Once you have purchased your Passport, Click here to browse our schedule.
  3. Select “Available Online” to filter our virtual listings. (If not signed in, click “Sign-in” at the top right of the page)
  4. On the film you would like to stream, click the “More Details” button. Once the film page opens, press the “BUY TICKETS” button.
  5. In the pop-up window that appears, asking if you would like to use your account benefit, click “yes”.

Follow the instructions on the film page to stream, or select the orange “Click to Stream” button in your confirmation e-mail.

HOW DO I PURCHASE AND STREAM AN INDIVIDUAL FILM?

  1. Click here to browse our schedule.
  2. Select “Available Online” to filter our virtual listings.
  3. On the film you would like to stream, click the “More Details” button.
  4. Once the film page opens, press the “BUY TICKETS ” button to purchase your stream.

Follow the instructions on the film page to stream, or select the orange “Click to Stream” button in your confirmation e-mail.

DO I NEED A CINEFEST ACCOUNT TO STREAM VIRTUAL FILMS?

Yes, you need a Cinefest account. If you don’t have an account, one will be created when you make your first purchase. If you have purchased tickets online for any of our previous festivals, you should already be in our system, however, as we are returning to the sales platform used prior to 2020, you may need to reset your password.

PLEASE NOTE: If you try to create a new account with an e-mail that is already assigned to an existing account, you will be prompted to sign in or reset your password instead.

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Confirmation emails are sent automatically once your online purchase is complete. If you do not receive your email within a few minutes of completion, check your Spam and Junk Mail folders.

Confirmation emails are not sent automatically for phone or box office orders. If you require a confirmation e-mail for a phone order, please reach out through our online chat, e-mail cinefest@cinefest.com or by call 705-688-1234.

I CAN'T FIND A VIRTUAL FILM ON THE SCHEDULE THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY THERE, WHAT DO I DO?

When an in-theatre screening completes, films available virtually move into the STREAMING ONLINE ONLY category of the schedule. The film will still be searchable at the top of the schedule page, and available below under STREAMING ONLINE ONLY to access the film or purchase tickets.

IS MY COMPUTER, MOBILE PHONE, OR TABLET COMPATIBLE?

The following devices and browsers are compatible for streaming virtual films:

  • Windows computers running Windows 7+
    • Using Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or Opera
  • Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+
    • Using Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or Opera
  • Android tablets and phones running Android 6.0+
    • Using Google Chrome
  • Apple iPhones and iPads running iOS 11.2+
  • Using Safari
  • For both PC and Apple devices, we recommend that you use the latest version of your browser.

    PLEASE NOTE: Internet Explorer is not supported.

HOW DO I WATCH ON MY TELEVISION?

You can watch films on your television by using an HDMI cable to connect your computer, by screen sharing using Chromecast or Apple TV, or on the AgileLink Cinema app on Roku, Fire TV, or Apple TV (4th generation or later).

PLEASE NOTE: “Smart TVs” can only be used to stream films if they have Roku or Fire TV built-in, or if they have Apple AirPlay and you have an Apple device to screen-share from. (You cannot stream films by visiting the Cinefest website on your Smart TV’s web browser.)

Make sure to check that the devices and browsers you plan to use meet all system and compatibility requirements.

HDMI:

If you have a laptop or nearby computer with an HDMI port, you can connect it directly to your television, using it as a second monitor. That said, connection details will depend on your setup. We recommend referencing your television’s manual for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: Using an HDMI cable to connect your TV to phones or tablets is not supported.

SCREEN SHARING (CHROMECAST & APPLE TV):

You can stream films on Chromecast or Apple TV (all generations) by screen sharing your smartphone, tablet, or computer on the same Wi-Fi network. Instructions for screen sharing using your Apple TV using AirPlay can be found here. For information on screen sharing using your Chromecast, click here.

APPLE TV:

  1. If you do not already have the AgileLINK Cinema app downloaded on your Apple TV, search for “AgileLINK Cinema” in the App store, and click “Get the App.”
  2. On your computer, tablet, or mobile device, open the film page for the film you would like to watch, and click on the “WATCH ON ROKU, AMAZON FIRE OR APPLE TV” to access a 9-digit voucher code.
  3. Open the AgileLINK Cinema app on your AppleTV and enter the code to stream the film.

ROKU:

  1. If you do not already have the AgileLINK Cinema app downloaded, search for “AgileLINK Cinema” in the Roku channel store and click “Add Channel.”
  2. On your computer, tablet, or mobile device, open the film page for the film you would like to watch, and click on the “WATCH ON ROKU, AMAZON FIRE OR APPLE TV” to access a 9-digit voucher code.
  3. Open the AgileLINK Cinema Channel on your Roku and enter the code to stream the film.

FIRE TV:

  1. If you do not already have the AgileLINK Cinema app downloaded, search for AgileLINK Cinema in the Fire TV app store and click “Add Channel.”
  2. On your computer, tablet, or mobile device, open the film page for the film you would like to watch, and click on the “WATCH ON ROKU, AMAZON FIRE OR APPLE TV” to access a 9-digit voucher code.
  3. Open the AgileLINK Cinema Channel on Fire TV and enter the code to stream the film.

WHEN CAN I STREAM FILMS?

The availability start and end times are listed on each film page above the “BUY TICKETS” button (also on our Virtual Schedule). Once you have purchased a ticket, you can begin watching any time during the availability window. Once you begin watching, you have 24 hours to complete your stream.

CAN I STREAM A FILM MORE THAN ONCE?

No. Virtual access is limited to one view per ticket, and passholders are limited to viewing each film only once.

I AM NOT CURRENTLY IN ONTARIO AM I ABLE TO STREAM A FILM?

Select films are only available in certain locations. If there is a geographical restriction, this will be indicated on the film page.

I AM RECEIVING THIS ERROR MESSAGE: “YOUR VOUCHER HAS BEEN REDEEMED BY A DIFFERENT IP ADDRESS.” WHAT DO I DO?

For security reasons, you must view films on the same WiFi network or Internet connection you started watching on. Once you start your stream in one location, you cannot continue viewing it in another location or on a different network—for example, if you start watching at home and try to restart at a friend’s house. To stream on multiple devices in once location, make sure all devices are connected to the same network.

WHY DOES VIDEO PLAYBACK STALL OR NOT PLAY SMOOTHLY?

We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on wifi, try moving closer to your router.

WHY DO I SEE A BLACK SCREEN IF I AM WATCHING CONTENT WITH AIRPLAY ON MY TV?

You likely have “Screen Mirroring” turned on in your device settings. Please turn off the screen mirroring setting and start AirPlay by selecting the AirPlay button (Image removed.) in the bottom right-hand side of the player.

RED CARPET PATRON PROGRAM

Cinéfest Sudbury is proud to present the Red Carpet Patron Program, a new subscription-based program for dedicated festival fans to keep the spirit of Cinéfest alive all year long! The Red Carpet Patron Program celebrates passionate lovers of cinema and supporters of the film festival through year-round programming and incentives for registered patrons. More information on upcoming screenings and patron perks can be found by clicking “Red Carpet Patron Program” at the top right corner of this page. 

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THE RED CARPET PATRON PROGRAM?

Red Carpet Patron Passes are currently available for sale through our box office only, if interested, please visit us at 40 Larch St., Unit 103, or call us at 705-688-1234 (Mon-Fri, 9-5 PM).

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY WELCOME PACKAGE?

Red Carpet Patron Program welcome packages will be sent out at the beginning of each new yearly quarter. For more information, you can contact us by email at redcarpet@cinefest.com or by phone at 705-688-1234.

RED CARPET PATRON PROGRAM FILM SCREENINGS

Red Carpet Patrons no longer require reserved tickets. Please ensure you have your Red Carpet Patron card with you when attending each quarterly film screening—your unique QR code on the back of your card will grant you entry into the film screening.

HOW DO I ORDER ADDITIONAL TICKETS?

Additional tickets are available to purchase at www.cinefest.com/rcpp.

ARE TICKETS AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC?

Yes. Tickets to each of the 4 Red Carpet Patron Program film screenings are available to the general public for $12.50 and are not exclusive to Red Carpet Patrons. However, we strongly encourage patrons interested in attending these screenings to consider joining the Red Carpet Patron Program, as Red Carpet Patrons will receive (1) one FREE ticket to each of the 4 film screenings, in addition to other perks, all for only $35! 

ARE THE FILM SCREENINGS AVAILABLE ONLINE?

No. Each of the 4 Red Carpet Patron Program film screenings will take place at SilverCity Sudbury on their respective dates, unless otherwise noted by Cinéfest Sudbury staff. Consider signing up for our newsletter or following us on social media to remain updated if any changes are set to occur.
