In response to the Government of Ontario’s announcement on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 1, and in order to ensure a consistent Festival experience in its entirety for patrons, Cinefest Sudbury will require audiences attending the festival in person from September 18 –26 to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID. In order to comply with these guidelines, festival attendees will need to present their vaccine receipts (paper copy or PDF copy on a mobile device) and photo ID upon arriving at SilverCity Sudbury.
Attendees must present their vaccine receipt alongside government-issued photo identification, which will be visually verified by festival staff or volunteers. These documents must be presented when entering the establishment – they cannot be pre-displayed in advance of entering.
If individuals do not have access to receipts provided at the time of vaccination, they can obtain proof of vaccination by downloading or printing their vaccine receipt from the provincial booking portal (https://covid19.ontariohealth.ca) or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.
People with red-and-white health cards can call the vaccine booking line to get a copy of their receipt. Cinefest staff will also be available to speak with patrons on how to access their vaccine receipts, if assistance is required.
Individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions will be permitted entry with a doctor’s note.
For patrons who have purchased tickets and cannot attend in-person under the new guidelines, Cinefest will offer virtual tickets in lieu of physical tickets, or full refunds if exchanges are not preferred or possible. Ticket holders looking for an exchange or refund can contact Cinefest at 705-688-1234 to explore these options beginning Wednesday, September 8th.
Cinefest Sudbury understands that the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly changing, and will continue to follow federal and provincial health and safety guidelines, along with the health and safety guidelines of the screening venue. Cinefest will continue to inform patrons of any updates or changes to these guidelines.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AND POLICIES
Patrons of Cinefest who are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, the flu, or a cold should not enter the theatre.
Our staff must complete a COVID-19 self-assessment, as provided by each province, that clears them to work. Staff will be instructed to stay home if they do not pass the provincial self-assessment (before their shift starts) or sent home if they begin to show symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu during their shift.
Following Ontario’s public health guidelines, masks are required to be worn by all guests. Masks may be temporarily removed for eating/drinking concessions only. For guests who forget their mask at home, a supply of masks will be available at the theatre for no charge.
The following Patrons are exempt from a mask requirement:
- Children who are younger than 2 years old
- Patrons with an underlying medical condition that inhibits their ability to wear a mask or face covering
- Patrons who are unable to place, remove, or use a mask or face covering without assistance
- Patrons who are receiving accommodations according to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 or the Human Rights Code
We ask that Cinefest Patrons exercise physical distancing and maintain a distance of 6 feet from individuals who are not in their group.
Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your showtime to allow for physical distancing in the lobby. Reserved seating is in effect for every auditorium. Patrons are required to sit in their reserved seat for the duration of the movie and are not permitted to sit in empty seats or rows. If a seat change is needed, please ask one of our staff members or volunteers for assistance.
Auditorium capacity is reduced and seating in each auditorium is staggered to ensure compliance with physical distancing guidelines.
Showtimes are strategically staggered to limit the number of people in all common areas, and floor decals and signs are put in place to indicate physical distancing guidelines. Specific sections, tables and seating, and machines may also be unavailable in order to meet physical distancing guidelines.
SilverCity employees, festival staff, and volunteers will be constantly monitoring all areas of the theatre to ensure physical distancing guidelines are met. We may ask Patrons to leave via alternative exits after their show to allow for physical distancing in the lobby.
Contactless payment options are preferred and are available at our festival Box Office. We accept all debit, credit, and gift certificates as well as cash.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Limited concessions are available. Toppings, biodegradable straws, napkins, utensils, and condiments are available upon request at SilverCity concessions counters.
Signage reminds guests to ensure physical distancing when lining up and picking up orders. Kitchen staff are required to wear masks, and food is prepared in accordance with enhanced staff hand-washing practices and local health regulations.
Maintain physical distance while waiting in line. Please note that some stalls and urinals are out of service to facilitate physical distancing, and we encourage guests to wash hands for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap.
EXITING THE AUDITORIUM
Please exit one row at a time and maintain physical distance on your way out. We also kindly ask that you dispose of your own garbage by dropping it in the receptacles outside of the auditorium. Thanks for your patience and for respecting your fellow movie-goers.

Check the right-hand corner of the screen to ensure you are logged into your account (your initials will appear in the grey circle if you are successfully logged in). If you have forgotten your password, please contact us via the website chat or call 705-688-1234 and we will send you a password reset link.
In most cases, you will have 24 hours to watch a film after clicking "Watch Now", with some exceptions for limited event screening films. Once you have clicked "Watch Now" the countdown to watch the film will begin, so please do not click “Watch Now” until you are ready to view the film in its entirety.
If you have a satellite-based internet service provider (or another service that uses a non-static IP), or are using a VPN, your IP address may be reading as from another province or country. First, try disconnecting from any VPN/proxy servers and connecting to Wi-Fi instead of cellular or try using another device. If that doesn't work, try connecting via a different wireless network. If any of these steps do not work, please contact us via the website chat or call 705-688-1234 and we will assist in determining the cause of the issue.
